We are particularly interested in certain regions of Croatia in a genealogical sense, including Žumberak.

Žumberak

Although we have a proven history of genealogy research throughout Croatia and Slovenia, through in-depth study of specific records, we have gained particular expertise in several sub-regions. One of these regions is Žumberak, a sparsely populated area in northwestern Croatia, located between the Zagreb metropolitan region and the border between Croatia and Slovenia. With its unique history and cultural heritage, Žumberak is interesting for genealogical research from several aspects.

Predominantly Greek Catholic, the local population cherishes some of their long-standing traditions, while closely cooperating and socializing with their Roman Catholic neighbors. Although both Greek Catholics and Roman Catholics consider themselves Croatians (and sometimes Slovenians, in areas across the border), they develop unique differences among themselves that are always friendly and cordial in nature.

Žumberak includes four Greek Catholic parishes: Drage, Sošice, Stojdraga, Radatovići, and five Roman Catholic parishes: Vivodina, Kamanje, Žakanje, Žumberak and Oštrc.

Most of the civil registers in this area are well preserved but not microfilmed. We can conduct research for you or assist you in your research while you are traveling through this region. Please feel free to contact us.
