SPORTS AND RECREATION - Basic information

Miklavž na Gorjanci is a popular picnic spot. Right above the mountain lodge, on the viewpoint, is the church of St. Nicholas. Not far from there, on the edge of the meadows, in a shallow valley called Izero, there are several small lakes. We will be delighted by the numerous legends and stories related to this picnic spot. Miklavž na Gorjanci is located in the Dolenjska region, the Novo Mesto - Krško subregion, and even more precisely in the narrower Gorjanci subregion.

Family trip: The described trail is suitable for children over 3 years old. We can help carry children aged 2 to 3 years old if necessary. The trail is also suitable for strollers. In that case, it is necessary to return to the gravel road that we took to the Gospodična Mountain Lodge and continue on foot to the left towards Miklavž. Children will be delighted by the small lakes near the lodge.

Distance traveled on an easy trail:

  • Rise: First, we visit the famous Gospodična spring below the mountain lodge. Then we return and pass by the lodge towards Miklavž. Hiking signs direct us to the correct path. Behind the lodge, we come to a forest hiking trail that leads us up a gentle slope to a wide gravel forest road. There we continue left and quickly reach an intersection of gravel roads, where we continue straight. The trail leads us to the next, larger intersection. A hiking sign directs us to a gravel road that leads us past the legendary Bloody Stone and numerous meadows to the Miklavžu Lodge. Behind the lodge, we climb to the church of St. Nicholas. We continue our walk to the shallow valley of the Izero with numerous lakes.

Return: We return to the starting point by the same route.
